The United States women’s soccer team is one the most successful in international women's football. They've won four Women's World Cups titles, four Olympic golds medals, nine CONCACAF Gold Cups, and four Women's World Cups. The roster includes all of the top players, including Morgan, Lloyd, Alyssa Thompson, and Tobin Heath.

Injury has forced Alex Morgan to withdraw from two friendlies against England, Spain and Spain. Vlatko Andreinski, coach of the USWNT has released the 24-player roster. The matches will be played in London on Oct. 7, and in Pamplona on Oct. 14, respectively. Both teams qualify for the 2023 World Cup, Australia.

Alyssa Thompson is one of the most promising young American players. She has the technical control and speed to defeat defenders in one on one duels. Tracey Kelly, the US women’s national team's coach, was able to recognize her talent. Kevins recalls Thompson at 13 years old, when she was scouting Southern California clubs. In that game, she came across a forward who was "brave" and "resilient" on the field. Thompson is now a member the US women's team.


Tobin Heath

Tobin Heath, a forward, was recently selected for the US women's soccer team roster. She is an outstanding player who has represented the North Carolina Tar Heels as well as the United States national soccer team. United States Soccer Federation has referred to Heath as "perhaps the USA's best player." She was named Athlete of the Year in 2016 by US Soccer.

Hope Solo

Hope Solo is a controversial figure in women's soccer, with a complex legacy. Solo is one of the most accomplished goalkeepers, having made 202 appearances on the U.S. soccer team, and holding a record for keeping 152 clean sheets. Solo is well-known for her outspoken opinions. Her controversial character has been a major talking point in the sport.

Tobin Naeher

The United States women’s national soccer team are in the final stages at their World Cup qualification campaign. Tobin Naeher was a surprise selection, but she has since proven to be a valuable member of the roster. She played every minute for the team and made four saves in the 2-1 win over France. Naeher also made an important penalty kick save in the semifinals, stopping Steph Houghton's attempt.

Canadian soccer players have accused referee Christiana Petersen of bias in an ongoing controversy regarding the US women's team's match against Canada. Pedersen issued a penalty for the United States to hold the ball in their penalty area in the 80thminute. Pedersen, who is also a former World Cup referee, was not immediately available for comment.

Megan Rapinoe

Megan Rapinoe is a constant presence for the United States women’s national team for more than a decade. The forward is a force on and off-the field. Rapinoe was raised in Redding, California where she played volleyball with her older brother and twin sister. Rapinoe's performance in recent years has been impressive for the United States. She scored two goals in 2012 World Cup and one in 2015.
